Skillz Execs Speak at Pocket Gamer Connects SF!
Last week, a number of Skillzians made their way to annual mobile gaming conference Pocket Gamer Connects here in downtown San Francisco.
Held by leading mobile gaming media brand Pocket Gamer, the event was a great opportunity to learn about up-and-coming mobile gaming trends and innovations, connect with fellow industry players, and represent Skillz and our game-changing mobile eSports platform.
The conference proved to be insightful. Dozens of industry leaders from Bandai Namco, Glu Mobile, SEGA, Unity, and more spoke on a variety of topics like game monetization, practical development, funding, and indie survival.
There was even a presentation on the history and growth of mobile eSports. The speaker? Our very own Chief Product Officer, Bill Mooney.
Bill spoke of eSports’ similar growth trajectory to traditional offline sports, the continuing globalization of the industry, and mobile’s unprecedented domination of the gaming market. (You can read more on these topics here
Our Chief Marketing Officer, Casey Chafkin, was also on stage as part of a panel on the future of eSports. Here he is below enjoying the event:
Casey also touched on the tremendous potential of the eSports market and how competitive multiplayer games should be accessible to everyone, not just the top professionals – something Skillz is attempting to make possible through our mobile eSports platform.
Some other highlights of the conference included VR stations, a speed-dating-style pitching contest called “The Very Big Indie Pitch,” and the Global Connects afterparty.
We can’t wait until next year! In the meantime, check out these top-performing games that have integrated Skillz to bring fun and competitive eSports to mobile gamers worldwide.
