A Glimpse Into Skillz Culture – Skillz Rooftop BBQ!
As August came to a close, so did our glorious month-long tradition of half-day Fridays.
For our very last half-day Friday, many Skillzians based at our San Francisco headquarters decided to enjoy the summer weather on a rooftop! In fact, it was actually the hottest day on record in San Francisco history. When Portals Engineer David Hu suggested his apartment rooftop with stunning city views, and Marketing Analyst Christopher Dewing offered his grilling and meat-marinating talents for the afternoon, our rooftop BBQ was in motion.
Christopher was the ultimate grillmaster, preparing the meats to absolute perfection
“The BBQ was a pretty great time,” recalls Engineering Co-Op David Padawer. “We had everything from delicious meats and ice-cold watermelon to Jenga, and of course, Captain Corgi.”
It’s not a Skillz party without a furry guest, right? Captain Corgi, Customer Success Manager Soojee Hahn’s adorable dog, was definitely one of the highlights of the afternoon!
“It was the perfect way to close out our half-day Fridays,” says Content Marketing Strategist Hailey Yook. “It’s nice to work at a company where co-workers want to spend time each other, even when the work days are cut short. It’s really telling of our culture here.”
