Skillzians Support the Arts at the Sandcastle Classic!
Earlier this month, Skillzians headed to Ocean Beach in San Francisco to enjoy a day of building sandcastles with elementary school students.
This handmade Yoshi sign marked the spot for the Skillz team to build its sandcastle!
Apart from being the biggest sandcastle competition in Northern America, the Sandcastle Classic is an annual charity event to support Leap, a private nonprofit organization that provides programs to Bay Area students to encourage creativity, innovation and excellence in the arts.
The Skillz team (which consisted of representatives from Skillz, RGA Design, and a local SF Bay Area elementary school) decided to build Bowser’s Castle – what other design is more appropriate for a gaming company?
Our corporate partner, RGA Design, created this construction plan for our design.
“It was a really fun way to enjoy a sunny afternoon just building sandcastles on the beach,” said Kevin, a Marketing Analyst at Skillz. “Not only did I get the chance to spend time with fellow coworkers outside of the workspace, it was also for a really good cause that a lot of us genuinely care about.”
The finished product – Bowser’s Castle!
As a supporter of the local community and a variety of charity initiatives, this is the second year Skillz attended the Sandcastle Classic. Apart from events like this, Skillz also hosts tournaments to raise money for different causes such as the Wounded Warrior Project, ASPCA, or Hurricane Irma Relief.
