Charity Event: 1,100+ Players Supported Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts Through Skillz Games!

1,100+ people play Skillz Games for Hurricane Irma relief

With its powerful winds and catastrophic storm surge, Hurricane Irma destroyed thousands of homes and critical infrastructures across the Caribbean and Florida.

Last week, in an effort to support the relief and recovery of the millions affected by the hurricane, we held a special live charity tournament. During this event, $1 from each entry fee was donated to GlobalGiving’s Hurricane Irma Relief Fund, which aims to finance emergency supplies such as food, water, and medicine, as well as long-term assistance to help residents rebuild their lives.

In a 24-hour period, players were able to compete in their choice of five Skillz games – Bubble Shooter, Cube Cube, Strike! Bowling, Jewel Quest, or Real Money Pool – as many times as they wanted, for an enjoyable opportunity to support relief efforts.

We also awarded a Skillz hand-powered flashlight to everyone who played at least five matches in the tournament, as a thanks for helping out a great cause and as a reminder to always be prepared for natural disasters or emergencies.

The event was a huge success – together, we raised a total of $3,926 across all five games! Are Skillz users charitable or what? Thanks to the 1,100+ players who participated, we were able to make a sizable contribution to the relief fund.

We regularly host many live events with an array of must-win prizes, so keep an eye out for future Skillz tournaments! In the meantime, check out more popular Skillz games at games.skillz.com.
