Skillz Executives Talk eSports at SXSW

The first South by Southwest (SXSW) began in 1987 in Austin, Texas. Since then, it has evolved into an annual conference for filmmakers, artists, interactive designers and innovators to celebrate the intersectionalities of the digital media industry. The 2017 SXSW conference had over 70,000+ attendees and 5,000+ conference speakers representing 95 different countries. The SXSW conference is one of the top events connecting passionate, ambitious individuals who are looking to disrupt and actively shape the future of media.

Following the theme of eSports, David’s panel was entitled “The Democratizing Power of Mobile eSports.” He spoke alongside leaders from Razer and Geekazine about the potential of mobile, given that it’s the most popular gaming platform in history with 2.6 billion gamers worldwide. In this session, they highlighted current eSports industry trends and discussed how mobile is transforming the future of eSports.

Apart from the informative speaking sessions and networking opportunities, attendees also had the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage learning and growth. There were gatherings focused on social impact, VR/AR, health and more, as well as special events such as art exhibitions, happy hours, meet and greets, book signings and various receptions.

Big thanks to SXSW for having us! We’re already looking forward to next year’s conference.
