Skillz Communications Lead Honored at PRWeek Award Ceremony
Earlier this year our Communications Lead, Roxana Bostwick, was named one of PRWeek’s 2018 Champions of PR! The Champions of PR are dynamic female leaders in the public relations field who utilize innovation and creativity to achieve impressive results. This year, Roxie’s fellow honorees include professionals from top PR agencies like Edelman and FleishmanHillard, as well as senior management from prominent companies including PwC, DocuSign, KPMG, Southwest Airlines and PayPal.
At just 25 years old, Roxana (A.K.A. Roxie) is one of the youngest PR professionals ever to receive this award. Her relentless passion and determination continually drive her to secure impressive press placements and top awards for Skillz, including our #1 ranking on the Inc. 5000 as the fastest-growing company in America and acclaim as the first eSports company on the CNBC Disruptor 50. Her skill level, attention to detail, and strong leadership have earned her the title of Champion of PR.
In commemoration of the 2018 Hall of Femme and Champions of PR honorees, PRWeek hosted a celebratory event in New York earlier this month. This gathering of top PR minds featured powerful panels, breakout activities, and networking – all culminating in a formal award ceremony during which team each winner was recognized for their contributions to the industry.
Some of the core topics discussed throughout the event were ways to maximize mentorship and sponsorship, how to benefit from career wisdom across different generations of PR professionals, and strategies for combating the gender pay gap. For the occasion, speakers from companies including Ketchum, American Express, Publicis Health and the Washington Redskins all came together to contribute their insights and expertise to attendees.
When reflecting on her trip to New York and time spent amongst her fellow honorees, the first two words that come to Roxie’s mind are “humbling” and “empowering.” In her words: “This was such a special day – not only because I received this incredible honor, but also because of the strength derived from women supporting other women. I can’t thank PRWeek enough for putting together such a fun, meaningful event!”
