Skillz SVP of Engineering Speaks at Tech Inclusion

Our SVP of Engineering, Miriam Aguirre, recently spoke at the Tech Inclusion conference alongside panelists from Mapbox, Atlassian and Wikimedia! Tech Inclusion is an annual event that brings together professionals from the tech industry to focus on diversity and inclusion topics. This year’s conference, titled “Voices of Innovation,” featured a group of diverse and underrepresented voices that is currently building the innovative technologies of the future.

Miriam participated in a panel titled “Understanding and Addressing Intersectionality,” where she talked about why discussing intersectionality is important, how to stimulate meaningful conversations on this topic, and strategies to produce a more inclusive workplace environment. As part of this, she spoke to the role intersectionality has played in her career and how Skillz fosters open dialogue about diversity and inclusion. Miriam also gave advice on how others can create a more inclusive workplace.

She appreciated the candid conversation with other panelists and enjoyed hearing their experiences, as well as speaking with a few event attendees. Overall, Miriam was happy to have shared her background, advice, and tools to advocate for change.
